Scratch Slam 2023

The Scratch Slam is always our favourite part of the year! A combination of a scratch night and a monologue slam, our actors spend the weeks leading up to the competition preparing an eclectic mix of performances. Every year is different and this year we got to enjoy a multitude of scenes, monologues, Shakespeare, devised pieces, original music and contemporary scripts.

We always invite a panel of judges to judge the competition and award prizes for the best piece, highest commendation, and overall best actor. This year’s overall best actor from the Over 16s Slam was Will Greatorex who performed an inspired piece alongside Grace Ford that they devised themselves, winning ‘best piece’ for the 5pm group. Following the event, Will and Grace took their piece to Rough Draft – Leicester’s only scratch night – and performed at the Y Theatre.

Congratulations to all the winners and to everyone who took part. It was exceptionally difficult for our panel of judges to select their favourite performances and it really came down to the finest of details.
